Housing & Water

Plan a dry sleeping house, manageable water area, durable drainage, secure fencing, and nighttime protection for a domestic duck flock.

Housing & Water

Build Around Water, Mud, and Security

Ducks do not need roosts, but they do need a dry, ventilated place to sleep and enough room to move without crowding. Water stations should be arranged so splashing does not soak the bedding or turn the entire run into mud.

Predator protection must work every night, not only when someone remembers to close a weak latch. Strong materials, covered openings, drainage, and easy cleaning matter more than decorative coop features.
